Take off to the RAF Museum Midlands and enjoy a great family day out.

Explore the fascinating story of the Royal Air Force and the people who serve through a unique collection – ranging from bi-planes to fast jets, logbooks to lucky charms, in four vast display hangars.

Start your journey with the Knights of the Air from the First World War. Take a step back in time in our Battle of Britain display, featuring a Hurricane and Boulton Paul Defiant, built in the West Midlands, alongside the oldest surviving Spitfire. Share the stories of the people who helped win the Battle in the air and on the ground, through their flying jackets, medal bars and objects from the vital plotting rooms.

Featuring the newly restored Wellington bomber, Guy Gibson’s Victoria Cross, and the Bristol Blenheim, discover how the RAF’s Bomber Command took the war to the enemy. Interactive displays share the wider Bomber Command story, exploring stories of the crew, technology and raids that were crucial to Allied victory in the Second World War.

The National Cold War Exhibition is the only place in the world to see the three V-Bombers – the Vulcan, Victor and Valiant – together. Audio-visual Hotspots share the stories of the Space Race and Cuban Missile Crisis as well as anti-war protests.

You’ll find flying entertainment for the whole family in Flight Zone. Experiences on offer include flying with the Red Arrows in an amazing 4D theatre. Pop on your VR goggles and transport yourself into the cockpit of a real Spitfire and take a flight in 360°. Feel the speed and agility of the Eurofighter Typhoon onboard the Flight Simulator, with a pilot’s eye view from the cockpit. Glide through the skies on the ParadropVR. This immersive paragliding flight combines sensational VR content with a thrilling range of motion, transporting users into a virtual world of airborne adventures. Or take a selfie in a Spitfire while sitting in an exact replica of a Second World War Spitfire cockpit.

Our exciting events programme for 2025 is packed with themed activities for each school break, perfect if you’re looking for things to do in half term with families.

Refuel in our Airfield Kitchen where you will find a great selection of food and drink. Or enjoy a picnic with views overlooking the RAF Cosford airfield, while the younger members of your group play in our aviation inspired playground. Browse the exciting ranges on offer in our shop and pick up a memento of your day.
